I put this book on my wish list back before Christmas and was lucky enough to receive it as a Christmas gift. I work in the cell culture field, so it had a definite draw for me. I have grown HeLa cells regularly, and although I knew the basics of the story behind these cells, I wanted to know more. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book is very well written. It doesn't take long to get drawn into the story, and it's a true fact finding type book. It's not overly sentimental and yet you develop a quick rapport with Henrietta and her family. The author walks the line between science and story telling very well. A scientist can read this and not feel insulted for want of facts, yet the layman can read it and not feel drowned in scientific jargon.
