This is the second of Sara Miles' books that I have read; the first being TAKE THIS BREAD, which is partly the reason I am a member of the St. Gregory's of Nyssa community today. To read Sara's writing is, to me, not far removed from a personal conversation with someone who truly lives what she writes. I repeatedly found myself asking "does she REALLY believe this?", because if she does, it has the potential to inspire anyone who reads it to change the world around them in profound ways. More than once I was moved to tears by stories of compassion, and unexpected delight (thinking now of Michael's birthday cake at the Food Pantry). The title "Jesus Freak" took on an entirely new meaning for me than when I first encountered the term in the late 60s and early 70s. Sara makes me want to wear the label with a sense of pride ... though the challenge she presents is profound and demands a committment to a depth and quality of love that many of us would find uncomfortable. I only rate this book with five stars because there is nothing higher. Buy it ... read it ... I believe it will change your life and your heart in a most wonderful way.
