Someone has been killing the paranormals and IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency) cannot figure out who they are and how to stop them. Even their ace-in-the-hole Evie, who can see through any glamour to the paranormal beneath, is no match for whatever is doing this.
Armed only with Tasey, her wicked-cool pink rhinestone taser, and assisted by Lend, a liquid shape-shifting IPCA detainee, will Evie be able to escape IPCA's lock-down and find this taker of souls while there are still paranormals left to save?
And with Reth an immortal faerie looking to claim her as his and secrets she is only just beginning to learn about herself, tracking this executioner seems to be the least of her worries.
Paranormalcy by Kiersten White was an immensely entertaining read. Her character, Evie is tough, adorable and utterly hilarious. Who wouldn't like a heroine who could seriously kick butt while wearing pink stiletto boots and a zebra-print wrap dress, wielding a sparkly taser? One who is strong enough to take down a vamp or two but still manages to injure themselves attempting a hip-hop dance routine.
The story comes to life on the page, inviting the reader into Evie's world filled with a little bit of danger, just a few secrets and a whole lot of supernatural beings. Some nice and some not so nice. Ms. White created characters with very wonderful and memorable personalities that really stand out in this genre.
Readers who love Clary Fray's spunk and personality in The Mortal Instruments series will definitely love Evie.
This is a story that is worth not only a read, but a re-read.
