The opening is gripping and sets the mood for another great story by Brandon Mull.

As a huge fan of the Fablehaven series I ordered this book the day it came out, and I was not disappointed. The story blends the realm hopping of C.S. Lewis and the epic quest stories of Tolkien, yet adds what Mull has perfected in the FBLHVN series. . . creature creation. The wizardborn are among some of the most interesting creatures I have ever read about.

To those that have read the Fablehaven series, please know that this feels like a unique and original story, so if you enjoyed FBLHVN, jump into the Hippo's mouth.
