From the New York Times bestselling author of Audrey Style comes a charming guide to Audrey Hepburn–inspired living for the modern woman

Audrey Hepburn epitomized grace and style, not only in her appearance but in her very essence. Whether in fashion, relationships, her work on the screen, or for UNICEF and her home life, there is no one more worthy of imitation.

How did she do it? What Would Audrey Do? is the answer: a complete Audrey primer, with rich anecdotes and insight from the people who knew her best, and Audrey-inspired lessons in loveliness, including:

· Dating advice from the woman who enjoyed romances with John F. Kennedy, William Holden, and Albert Finney
· What made her an icon, and how to apply her style choices to twenty-first-century clothes, makeup, and accessories
· Raising children, trying to raise husbands, and making home life balanced in every way
· How to travel, what to pack, and maintaining your cool on the road
· Using renown (long before Angelina and Bono got all the press) to help others around the world
· Insight into her rich interior life and the discipline, intelligence, and generosity that made her so compelling

In an era fraught with selfishness, flamboyance, and sensational headlines, Audrey as a role model is precisely what the world needs.

I wanted to like this book, I really did. . .

But I just couldn't get into it. I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan and, after reading "What Would Jackie Do?" (a book that I absolutely love) I figured this book would be even better. It is just a biography of Audrey's life, lightly touching on how she would have handled particular situations. It was a good book, but the title was misleading. If you want a slightly different type of Audrey biography, then this is a good book. However, if you want a guide to living an Audrey-inspired life, you may not want to get this one-it will leave you disappointed.

Not just for fans of Audrey's style

Are you looking for wisdom gleaned from the life and style of Audrey Hepburn? If so, then this book is for you.

This utterly charming book is a clever blend of biography and commentary that is meant to show us how we can emulate one of the all-time style icons not only in her fashion sense, but also in the remarkable way she lived her life.

The book travels somewhat chronologically through Audrey's life: through her childhood experiences in the war, her fantastic rise to stardom, her failures and successes in love and marriage, her dedication to charity, and finally to her passing from cancer in 1993. Woven into the elucidation of the many chapters of Audrey's life are author Pamela Keogh's observations on how we can apply Audrey's wisdom to similar situations in our own lives.

I especially enjoyed reading about how Ms. Hepburn insisted on being professional in all her work sitations, and was noted for being gracious and charming with all the people she came in contact with. Unlike much of Hollywood today, Audrey was a model of decorum.

This is much more than a book on Audrey's style...so much so that if you are interested soley in information on Ms. Hepburn's wardrobe choices, you may be disappointed. While there are nuggests of fashion advice throughout the book, the real focus is on how to live a remarkable life. In this sense, Ms. Keogh has created a fascinating and remarkably original book that anyone, regardless of their interest in fashion, can learn from and enjoy.

doesn't do Audrey justice!

S. Evans "sweetPea" @ 2008-09-20

As a huge Hepburn fan, I found this book to be just...okay. There are no pics of Audrey, just mimikky drawings. And though the advice is good, I don't beleive Audrey Hepburn would have populated any store just because the author thinks she would if Audrey were alive today. Furthermore, the book suggests that you can only shop here or buy that to be "truly Audrey." But what everone needs is to carry her spirit more than her "look." Unfortuneately, this book never really shares this enough with the reader. A far better book would be "How To Be Lovely," by Mellisa Hellstern. It is brimming with quotes and photos of Audrey at every stage of her life, and isn't afraid to show the close-ups of Audrey as she aged without the help of a scalpel. Audrey Hepburn proved the old adage, To be beautiful on the outside, you must first be beautiful on the inside.

A Fun Read!

terroh "terroh" @ 2008-06-02

This is a fun read. A clever look at how Audrey Hepburn lived her life that is a must for fans and interesting even for casual readers. Part mini-biography and part fashion/lifesyle guide, it's cleverly written and never dull. Well researched (there are a few glitches here and there: Audrey did not play a lesbian in "Children's Hour", Shirley Maclaine did. And there is no evidence that Kate Hepburn was bisexual...)there were tidbits even I had never read about Audrey before (and I thought I'd read it all. Audrey and JFK? It's here!) Audrey was a class act in her life and her career and the world would be a better place if more people followed the principles that guided her life.

Similar to What Would Jackie Do?

w.w.w. smith "w.w.w. @ 2009-11-23

Like the Jackie guide, this is made up of advice related to fashion, etiquette, what perfumes to wear, what sort of man to go out with, what kind of notes to write, how to be cool and kind and suave and fashionable and a lady, what shoes to wear, and how to make an exit or an entrance. good gift idea for Audrey-philes.

Unecessary and trivial

EPshots@yahoo.com @ 2009-01-04

The author has dipped into the "Audrey well" once too many times--a kinda shameful, pandering bit of fluff that really needn't have been published--there's too many excellent Audrey hepburn books out there to have to bother with this one

It's Okay...but...

CVWritrer @ 2011-03-14

It didn't do Audrey justice. When I first read this book, I fell in love I did. I won't lie to you I have read this book multiple times. But since I have had this book I have read other books on Audrey and going back and reading this one, it feels like some of the things are not Audrey.

Wish the author could have focused on her strength and character. Not on the generics like how to love, be famous, have money, etc.

It is still a great book and enjoyable, but don't take it as the Bible as to what Audrey would have done, read her biography to figure that out.

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey lover @ 2010-07-16

Audrey Hepburn--great actress (VASTLY under-rated and under-Oscared ["The Nuns's Story" and "Two for the Road"]. Excellent book about a fabulous woman who was as beautiful inside as out. There was never anyone like her. And there will never be anyone like her. Years of slogging through the hell-holes of Africa to benefit children was truly incredible and probably the first instance of a celebrity using that celebrity for charitable works. She was truly an original--and she is missed greatly. Brava, Audrey!

Excellent service!!

Thorougly Enjoyable Book!

Karren Knowlton @ 2009-06-07

I found out all sorts of little-known facts about Audrey Hepburn. I also got more of a sense of who she was as a person, and a glimpse over her life overall. Not only was she one of the most beautiful people ever, but she's an inspiration to me by what she overcame and did in her life, especially at the beginning and the end. This isn't quite a biography, but you will find out a lot about her!

Strength and Grace

Audrey Hephburn is one of my favorite actresses. From this book I learned that she was a woman of incredible strength who valued living a life of grace, and style all the while maintaining peace of mind.

I just love it

Gabriella Zotti @ 2009-01-29

I'm an Audrey lover and this easy, simple book is a great way to feel, at least for a while, in Audrey's skin.
It is the best way to have your girl moment of the day.

A Fun Read !

BALabossiere @ 2008-10-26

Pamela Keogh has done it again ! With her crisp writing style and witty turn of phrase, she takes the reader
on a journey into the life of Audrey Hepburn in a way that is unique and charming. This book is as timely
as it is informative and will be enjoyed by readers of all ages. For the first time.....I felt as though I had
been a visitor in the life of this unique and unusual icon.....while at the same time viewing her in a way that
was completely human. I intend to give this to everyone for Christmas !

Unique Look At a Beloved Icon

Richard Torregrossa @ 2008-10-13

What I liked about this book is that it looks at the values and the appeal of Audrey Hepburn without the breathless, fawning, ridiculously romanticized bias found in other recent biographies about her. The author has fun with her subject, which is rather bold when you're writing about a beloved and idolized icon.

The author is as playfull with her subject as Holly Golightly, the role Audrey played with such luminosity in "Breakfast At Tiffany's."

The writing is loose, full of quips and good advice. A lot of it is tongue-in-cheek, elegantly humorous, and charming--just like Audrey.

Silly, Insipid Waste Money - Audrey Deserved Better

J. LaVelle "LUV2SHOP @ 2008-10-01

Pamela Keogh ought to be talked to...This book is all about the money. I can't imagine anyone of Audrey's family or friends appreciating how she was exploited by Ms Keogh. Iron her shirts, sit up straight, be respectful...Somehow or the other, she was able to squeeze out as much nonsense out of commonsense everyday things. Yes Audrey was beautiful and talented. There is no doubt of this fact. However her personal experiences during WWII give her gravitas and genuineness that is lacking in our fluffy Paris Hilton world. Ms. Keogh just added more trivial matter to this already trivial world. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, Ms. Keogh. How about a serious treatment of Ms. Hepburn instead of trying to rake in the cash. I don't think you admire her except for her sense of style which in my opinion can be had without reading your nonsense material.
