Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? How can we feel happy and free? The answers to these and other life questions are gathered in Tiny Buddha, Simple Wisdom for Life's Hard Questions.

Tiny Buddha began as a quote-a-day Twitter account, @tinybuddha, in 2008. Lori Deschene's daily wisdom posts about mindfulness, non-attachment, and happiness became so popular that she now has more than 200,000 twitter followers who share quotes and stories about inspiration in their daily lives.

Deschene asked her Twitter followers to contribute their thoughts and perspectives on the difficult questions that influence how we live our everyday lives: thoughts about the meaning of life, pain, happiness, fate, and more.

Tiny Buddha, Simple Wisdom for Life's Hard Questions is a combination of the amazing responses that she received along with her own insightful essays, and insights from wise teachers around the world and throughout time. Deschene explores how these issues have played out in her own life and offers action-oriented suggestions to help people empower themselves, even in a world with so much uncertainty. The result is a guide that helps readers discover the endless possibilities for a life lived mindfully in the present, and connected to others.

Theres a Tiny Buddha in my Kindle

Lubna @ 2011-12-14

Tiny Buddha's online presence has been an inspiration to me for some time and this book is an extension of that. I really appreciate Lori's story as it is similar to mine. I am glad to have this on my Kindle to refer to when I need a little boost here and there. If you haven't checked out the Tiny Buddha website be sure to do so. The stories are always uplifting. I really hope this book gets into the hands of more people as we all need a Tiny Buddha in our lives these days. Blessings.

So very full of valuable, useful ideas and thoughts

David J. Singer @ 2011-12-09

I was eager to receive Lori's book. Lori is my favorite blogger. Her posts on Tiny Buddha are simple yet deep, practical yet not obvious, and plentiful yet not overwhelming. Lori's book is full of the same positives as her blog. On her blog, Lori regularly provides suggestions from her life experiences; in the book that's even more compelling as she weaves her life story, her struggles, and her growth into the narrative. I read the book straight through, because that's what I do. (Others will read it over time. This book works either way.) Now I'm going back and reviewing my notes and I'm looking forward to incorporating into my life, over time, the many ideas I took from the book, which will then take its place on the bookshelf that holds my other favorite books.

I enjoy the daily email messages from Tiny Buddha.

Irish Eyes "Irish" @ 2011-12-07

I enjoy the daily email messages from Tiny Buddha. Therefore, on the daily messages when it promotes "$150.00 worth of free items" with the purchase of same, I purchased the book. I probably would have purchased the book any way. However, I preordered for these "bonuses". I mistakenly thought these would be included with delivery of the book, or at least a link to these. I am sure this was a misudnerstanding.

FOLLOWUP: I was sure this was a miscommunication and I was right. Shortly after I posted the original review I was contacted with instructions on how to receive my valuable "bonuses", which I am sure I will thoroughly enjoy.

Difficult to read!

Tree Farmer @ 2012-02-25

After following Lori at her blog, I sent for her book.
The content was very good as expected.
However, the type face was difficult to read due to the closeness of the lines, and the grayness of the letters.
For older eyes, the kindle edition would be better.
I further suggest that Amazon begin listing the type font and size of the print in their descriptions.
I'll have to consider buying some kind of an E-reader.

Tiny Buddah - huge on wisdom!

Perfect Companion for Simple Wisdom from the tiny Buddha

kbinks @ 2012-01-03

I ordered two of these books from Amazon, one for my daughter and the other for me. Since we have two grandchildren adopted from Asia, the writings are even more interesting.

Well worth purchasing

Sueski @ 2012-01-02

Having recently found and come to love the Tiny Buddha website, I decided to buy Lori Deschene's book. Good decision. We're all struggling somehow. Ms. Deschene takes a creative approach to the examination of these universal struggles. Sure, she could go sit on a mountaintop but Ms. Deschene chooses to live down here in the valley with the rest of us, trying to make sense of it all. She walks the walk - meeting herself and others where they are now, and learning a little bit of something from everyone.

This would make a great gift.

The book exceeded my expectations!

A convert @ 2012-01-01

I am a faithful reader of the tiny Buddha blog. I was not sure about the book and if I would gain any additional insight. I decided to give it a try and LOVED it! I took it in vacation and could not put it down. It was comforting to know I am not the only one out there that has not figured it all out yet. I particularly liked the end of each chapter with it's exercises and thought provoking questions. I sometimes find these type of books overwhelming but this one felt just right! This is one to buy for yourself and that friend who is also trying to figure it all out! Great job Lori!

Are you ready to be free?

LKJ @ 2011-12-27

There is NOTHING tiny about this book. I ordered it a few months ago, after joining Tiny Buddha's Facebook page. At that time, I was embarking, (very reluctantly), on a series of life-changes, much like the author Lori Deschene. I find her writing style earnest, poignant, humble, and filled with a perspective that offers hope, courage, and even excitement regarding the often scary topic of change. Her chapters offer wise insight and light into pain, happiness, love, and possibilities which literally reached out, grabbed me by the shoulders, and shook me to the core. Reading her sage stories, (punctuated by quotes from her many wise Twitter followers) made her messages real, and therefore, obtainable. Unlike the plethora of books out there that make personal growth seem like the Holy Grail, Lori has distilled a series of hefty topics down to their sweetest essence. Lori's insight is part and parcel to me finding the strength to embrace and nurture life rather than run and hide from it. Lori writes, "We can take almost anything that hurts and recycle into something good, once we are ready to learn from it...this all depends on the most important question: are you ready to be free?" If you are, order Tiny Buddha immediately, if not sooner.

A Tiny Gem!

Cookie Queen @ 2011-12-27

I became of fan of Tiny Buddha on Facebook before even knowing that a book was in the works. I'm glad I found the website and even more grateful for Lori's thoughtful, practical and insightful words. This book is simple and honest; there is no conceit or arrogance in its pages. It doesn't preach. Instead it offers gentle encouragement and mindful advice on how to get through some of life's challenges. Lori doesn't pretend to know the answers. She had the courage to ask the questions, was open to hearing the perspectives and insights of others and was gracious enough to share what she learned. Reading this book reminded me that I'm not alone and that I have everything I need within me to have the life I want. Tiny Buddha has helped me find peace and I know it will do the same for others.

What I love about Lori Deschene is her ability to offer wisdom from such a humble point of view. Lori has BIG heart and offers her readers a realized journey through her own life coupled with the bountiful life that she has shared with such a huge community on her well-known blog Tiny Buddha. And boy, can Lori write!! She inspires me and I see myself in her journey. I continuously had the feeling as I was reading that I am not alone, that each of us grow and learn as we travel through our similar life paths. Lori connects us all through her book (and her blog) as she guides us to become aware of all the simple wisdom that is gained through our challenges, our heartbreaks, and our unfolding day-to-day. I highly recommend this book as well as following Lori's blog.

Darren Kwong @ 2012-01-23

I've read several self help books, but the sincere and caring manner in which this book is written really spoke to my heart in a way much deeper than any list of success principles ever could. The author speaks to you, not at you. I've recommended this book to to several friends.

INSPIRATIONAL READ!!

Casper073 @ 2012-01-12

I just finished reading this book, a fantastic, great read. I have often considered myself someone who is a positive person and have my life all together. But it gave me further insight on how to make my life even better by reassessing certain thought processes, activities and self assessment excercises. I think everyone who reads it will take something positive away from it. JOB WELL DONE!!!!

I highly recommend reading this book!

I recently started reading this book because I am a subscriber to the daily emails and the book does not disappoint. I am only about half way through but if you are looking for help and guidance to show you different ways to look at things and approach your life, this book is for you. Personally, I need reminders about ways to keep my life on track and this book does just that. The information and ways of thinking make a huge impact on my life. I am able to gain perspective on how I can handle different situations and how I approach each day. It has helped to make me a much stronger person although I continue to work at it every day. I'd be lost without this book!!
