A MUST READ

akornroach @ 2011-05-12

Something, is the short story (guessing 1,000-1,500 words) of Joanne and David. Joanne is a widowed mother and grandmother who recently returned to her hometown. When her car gets a flat, the last person she expected to pull up was David, her first love. This is a very short story of two people given a second chance at love after life tore them apart many years before. The story of Joanne and David is so sweet and romantic you can't help but love them and cheer them on. The author did a great job or managing to make the characters lovable with so very few words.
I recommend this book to anyone and give the author total props for writing such a wonderful short story!!!!!

A great ultra-short romance

This ultra-short story took about 10 minutes to read and put a big smile on my face that lasted for a lot longer. I strongly recommend it to even the busiest reader.

Where did it go?

JesseinSD @ 2011-05-15

There's a beginning to this story, and then - poof - you're at the end. Is this a first chapter to a book? First of all, brevity notwithstanding, there was absolutely no character development. Second, the plot, whatever there was of it, was woefully predictable. So much so, that I found myself waiting for "something" to happen. Which it never did. It took about 10 minutes to read, and a shorter time to forget.

A Quick Read - but Delightful

This ultra short story is a fun read. I'd like to see a followup exploring what comes next for these two characters!

Worthless

Tech Geek @ 2011-05-23

Yes, it is a quick easy read, but even then, it is a waste of time. I wish I had that half hour back in my life now. The writing is like something from an 8th grade composition class and the plot is no better. Sleep-in, paint your toe nails, change your engine oil, but whatever you do with that half hour, don't spend it reading this book.

Very short story.

Very short. Not the most polished of stories. I don't see how anyone could give it 5 stars. Honestly it seems more like someone's school paper to me. I didn't mind reading it, but I definitely would mind paying for it. Still, it's not all that bad, and if you just want something to pass a few minutes then read it!

Nice short story

A quick read and a good plot. It could easily be expanded into a full length feature and I wish it had been. The descriptions and explanations were really short.

Some promise but...eh.

Ravynfyre @ 2011-05-20

The idea here is simple and cute, a sweet evening captured and a hope for the future. Adorable. The execution of telling this story - as in, the writing - could use some polishing. A little more character development, perhaps a more in depth connection then a summer romance so long ago... and really heroine with something resembling a spine would have been nice. She was just very...nice and sweet but.. drippy and kind of pathetic. Eh. i would not suggest this story, but it's a quick read and free, so not much lost there.

Sweet but too short

movie81 @ 2011-05-20

Something it's a really short story. It takes just 10 minutes to read. It's a sweet story but too short to know the characters.
It'd be better if the author put more time in describing their lives or put some interesting flashbacks in it.

Sweet but incomplete

Two lovers reconnect after a lifetime part.

Joanne has never forgotten the young man who once danced with her and briefly dated her forty-odd years ago. Now a widow, with a grown daughter and grand-children, she suddenly has a chance to love again.

It is a touching story although very short. I did not quite buy the plot, feeling that after a lifetime apart, things would be more complicated than the ending let us suppose. It is also more like an introduction to a novel than a novella. You get to meet the characters and get the basic story line but you learn nothing of the characters' lives and the conclusion is a bit abrupt.

Oops! someone took an axe to this story :)

dachba @ 2011-05-16

Fun to read VERY short story but what happened to the ending? Even for a shorty, this was a bit too truncated. As another person noted, this seems like a first chapter in a book, or maybe the first few chapters if the story was filled in instead of written in outline mode.

Anyway, it was worth the price (free) and a fun if frustrating read.

A good start

Arrowsmith @ 2011-05-15

I'm not really sure where to go with this. The plot was good and it only took about 10 minutes to read. I understand that it's a short story but for being a "love story" I wish I would have learned more about the characters so I could have at least liked them. I will probably read more by this author I just hope I will find something with a little more depth.

Waste of time!!

tlaud @ 2011-05-19

I downloaded this book to read & I was done in 3 minutes!! What a silly book. If that is all it takes to be an author then get me a sheet of paper & a publicist!
