Excellent Product

B.S.A. "BA" @ 2007-02-07

I have used a ton of GMAT prep books and in general, aside from the official guides produced by the makers of the GMAT, most of the other study guides are just plain horrible. On the other hand, this book is top notch. It breaks down all of the major areas on sentence correction in an easy to read format and cross references problems in the official guide to hone your skills.

Sentence correct was my greatest weakness on the GMAT. In 2001 I took the GMAT and scored a 65% percentile on the verbal portion and this past January I scored in the 89% percentile. My only regret is that I did not get this book soon enough. I purchased this book two weeks before the test. Two weeks was enough time for me to cover everything in the book (and I am in law school with a horrid class load) but I wish I had it a few weeks earlier to practice more.

Another plus to the book is there is a link and code that gives you access to some online materials that will give you additional practice.

I do recommend you get the Official Guides to supplement this book. Every chapter has problems but the chapters also refer to real problems in the Official Guides which is a blessing to address weak points and to improve your skills.

On a negative note the price was a bit high at $30 but it was money well spent and I would pay that much again if I needed to. The price did not effect my rating - it helped my score and in the end that is what matters.

Concepts explained very well

Ajay Singh "Ajay Sin @ 2006-04-08

I am surprised that this book is not as popular as it should be. I was looking for a refresher Grammar book to explain the concepts, but English Grammar is too vast. This book explains the grammatical concepts that are tested on the GMAT very well. I recommend using this book as a supplement though. You want to get practice on questions from other books. This book does refer to the Official GMAT book indicating which sentence correction questions test certain concepts.

The Kaplan book is really lousy explaining the concepts. The Princeton review explains it better but this book is even more detailed.

Very helpful!

Need a 700 @ 2006-01-24

I'd read on a GMAT blog that the Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction Guide was the most helpful book out there for S.C. problems, and I can easily see why it has gotten that reputation! Very clear and analytical, broke the problems down in a way that I haven't seen elsewhere (and I own some of the big books), I found it very useful.

Fair Disclosure?

BK @ 2006-08-20

I bought this book to practise more and liked that there was a seperate book for each GMAT section. But, I was shocked to see that there were no practise exercises in this book. This book (and the other book I bought in the series) refers to 2 different books for practise exercises!! If there is need for fair disclosure, it is now!! I now have to go through the pains of returning the 2 books!!

Best SC Resource (comes with 6 GMAT tests online but with few practice questions)

GMATClub.com @ 2009-04-24

Huge point - I did not see this mentioned anywhere: this book comes with access to 6 online Manhattan GMAT CAT Tests, which are very good quality - they are yours just for buying this book, which makes it a VERY good value!

Another important part to note right away that the book has VERY FEW practice questions. There is 1 or 2 that are used to carry the point across and then there are "In Action" collection of 10-25 sentences at the end of each chapter (plus some online practice) but the book assumes that you will be using the Official Guide or the Verbal supplement for the official Guide. You should get those books anyway, but beware that they are required for practice. If you have already gone through OG's, get The PowerScore Sentence Correction Bible - it is almost as good but comes with practice questions.

This is the best book on the market today as voted by many gmatclub members.

Strengths:
* Only the relevant information and grammar points. Saves a tremendous amount of time
* Indepth overview of each error type to notice the patterns
* Good structure and gradual progression from basic to more advanced topics
* Includes advanced strategies for advanced test takers (650/700+ level)
* Finally, it provides approaches and strategies that work
* Excellent layout - very conducive to learning - especially helpful for visual learners (I am one). The book is actually so well laid out and published that it is enjoyable to read.
*** Access to 6 online GMAT Tests online

Weaknesses:
* Few practice questions included (mentioned above)
* Poor "style" coverage, which usually are the hardest GMAT questions

Let me know if you have any questions about this book - I answer comments on Amazon.
Good Luck on your GMAT,

This is the Best GMAT Sentence Correction Guide Available!

BeatTheGMAT.com @ 2009-11-07

I self studied and scored a 770 on the GMAT. Here is my analysis of MGMAT's Sentence Correction Guide:

===== OVERVIEW =====

The Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction (SC) Guide, is one of the most popular resources on the market for mastering GMAT grammar. This is because many non-native test takers do not have access to prep courses and, in their effort to get a high score with self prep, they will often be brought down by the cruel English grammar tested on the GMAT.

As a company, Manhattan GMAT has built a very strong reputation in the test prep industry. For most of its history, the company focused exclusively on the GMAT and no other standardized test (the company began serving the LSAT market in 2008). In this respect, it has published a set of 8 GMAT guides which should cover not only the basic GMAT topics, but also the advanced issues that the GMAT test taker will face. The SC guide is by far their most popular product, often described as a "must have" in online study forums.

The book is structured in two parts: General (10 chapters) and Advanced (3 chapters). It also includes a handy Official Guide List and Matrix, where you will find a breakdown of topics tested in each of the questions found on The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition (OG) and Verbal Review 1st Edition. Note that Manhattan GMAT published this 4th edition shortly after the release of the OG 12th, in spring, before the 2nd edition of the Verbal Review was released later that summer. This is important because the current Manhattan GMAT SC edition references the OG 12th edition and OG Verbal 1st edition, so you should plan your GMAT shopping list accordingly.

===== PROS =====

* Good analysis of common error types, excellent for non-native speakers of English interested in taking the test. The book covers the Sentence Correction concepts with amazing depth

* Comes with a one-year access to 6 online computer-adaptive practice tests (CATs), which I consider to be pretty decent estimators of your score, second only to the GMATprep software from [...]. The CATs are sold at $39 on their official site, so you'd be getting these tests and the book at a fraction of the cost.

* Structured according to error types, so if you feel you're having trouble with a certain question type, you can hone in on your weak spot by reading through the corresponding section

* Even if you're an advanced test taker, this book is still worth your time. Unlike some general strategy guides, it does not neglect this advanced test taking demographic. This is one of the advantages of having a targeted book at hand

* While the book's focus is Sentence Correction, the grammar lessons will also help you in the Analytical Writing Assessment section of the GMAT. Even though the score for the AWA does not count towards your general GMAT score, feeling confident about grammar will help ease the stress of writing your essays on the test

===== CONS =====

* HUGE MINUS: not enough practice questions. Each chapter has "In Action" problem sets and you also get access to 25 questions online, but that is not nearly enough GMAT practice. You will however find an Official Guide for GMAT Review reference list at the end of each chapter as well as the matrix described above

* The book's structure could be improved, in my opinion. The writing does not "flow" as easily as in The PowerScore GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible, for example.

* You need to allocate significant time to review this book. The multitude of rules and tips it presents will likely form a dark cloud in your head unless you take the time to properly digest the material

===== BOTTOM LINE =====

If GMAT sentence correction is causing you nightmares, this book will surely help you get rid of some of those bad dreams. Besides the grammar improvement, access to the CATs means that you'll have decent tools to assess your progress.

Good luck on your GMAT prep!

Deceiving

Jeffery Sweeney "Jef @ 2006-10-13

I bought the whole set based on some posts I saw at a GMAT forum along with the Princeton Review GMAT books, and the Official Guides.

After doing all three of them, I've this to be the most disappointing. There's a couple of reasons:

1) there's some typo errors, which should be fixed as this is a study book

2) there's questions and sometimes even entire passages copied STRAIGHT out of the Official Guide. I'm not sure the copywrite law on this but it was really tedious since I already went over the OG. Also, it was a waste of my money to have bought both the sets.

3) the explanations are mediocre at best. There's also little follow-up and in depth explanation.

4) The level of the questions were too easy. If you're looking to boost your 500 to a 600 this book might help. If you're looking to get a 700+, these books have almost no material dealing with that diffculty.

Either way though, if you have the official guides (11th edition), you basically have these books

Very substantial improvement over the previous version

Jaewoo Kim "OB-Wan" @ 2008-11-06

The GMAT Sentence Correction is what massacres their most people's GMAT score. This book provides GMAT SC coverage better than any book I know.

The previous edition of MGMAT Sentence Correction was decent. But it only covered part of what is tested on the GMAT. This version has largely resolved that problem.

This book covers many areas such as "complex verbs that act as nouns" which is not covered in the previous version. The anonymous authors of this book are apparently high level experts of not only GMAT SC but also general grammar.

GMAT has changed over the years and it has become a substantially different test. The Official Guides no longer provides an accurate guidance of the type and the difficulty level of the actual GMAT questions. If you have taken GMAT Prep (provided free by providers of GMAT), then you will know what I mean.

I have purchased the previous MGMAT SC, PowerPrep SC, and this book. By a wide margin, this book provides the best coverage of both the range and the difficulty level of the real GMAT SC questions.

This is not a short book and you will need to master every inch of it to do well on the GMAT SC. I highly recommend it as the primary source for GMAT SC studies.

No prep courses... just studying these books got me 780!

S. Loh @ 2009-12-03

I can't believe it! I did not attend any prep courses and just by merely studying these books, I got a 780! And on a separate note, I got a 5 on AWA.
Do not get me wrong, I was never a fantastic undergraduate. My GPA was only about 3.4.
Thanks to the Manhattan GMAT books which saved me alot of money(I repeat I did not spend on prep courses), I can now apply for the top MBA programs with confidence!

*I bought all 8 books but am only writing it here because I do not want to duplicate.

Awesome

mba_mama @ 2006-04-01

This book was pure joy. It gave the right concepts for tackling
GMAT Sentence Completion questions. Also, they order official GMAT Guide questions by category, which is really very very helpful.
I can confidently say that this book will help you quite a bit.
Very very satisfied reader.

(Also, i bought all their 7 books. They are just classics. If you dont have the money to enroll for expensive preparation courses, just buy the 7 GMAT books from these guys. They seem to know what
they are doing)

By far the best material I've seen for GMAT sentence correction

Randy Warnke @ 2010-10-24

I tried sentence correction with several different books - Kaplan, Princeton Review, and others. The other books seemed to focus more on the tricks and shortcuts you can use to arrive at an answer. This book actually takes the time to teach sentence correction, which is exactly what I wanted. This book, plus a bit of effort, turned what would have been my worst section of the exam (based on pre-tests I took) into my best one.

The online material that Manhattan GMAT offers is really helpful to get some additional sentence correction practice problems. You also get access to sample math problems, but I didn't find those to be at all representative of the type of questions you would see on the exam.

Consistent with other recommendations, after studying with this book, get a copy of the GMAT official guide to try out some more problems.

Great Strategies and Review!!

Marci @ 2010-01-20

I have never written a review for a product before, but I have only had this book for a day. I have read through Chapter 5, and the strategies explained in the first chapter along with the review on key elements to look for has already helped me. Sentence Correction was my biggest weakness in the Verbal Section. Today, I went back and answered the ones I missed on the mba practice test, using the new strategies, and I got all but one right this time. It made it so easy to focus and eliminate choices. I strongly recommend this book.

Best book out there for SC - must have

regulator "- yo" @ 2009-09-05

I must say I purchased this book partially on a whim. I had about a week before my GMAT, and I still felt unprepared for the verbal section. From my previous practice tests (GMATPrep tests), I realized I was getting a pretty high number of sentence correction questions wrong.

From reading various posts on different forums, I decided that purchasing this MGMAT book would be a good way to address this weakness I had. Furthermore, it would give me access to 5 more full length practice exams (+ the one free CAT exam on their website).

I took the free practice test on the same day I ordered from Amazon. Since I only had about a week left before my test, I paid for expedited shipping and received the book promptly. I quickly read through the first few chapters, and made mental notes on topics that were unfamiliar to me. The book is laid out exceptionally well, and has a good set of practice questions that I also worked on.

With access to the full length practice exams, I took a couple more during the last few days before my exam. I have to say, the MGMAT practice exams were awesome. The Quant section was noticeably harder than the GMATPrep tests (and also the actual GMAT), but the breakdowns and analysis they offer as you're going through the questions you got wrong are invaluable.

This book really helped me go over the edge. I went from a V39 during my first MGMAT practice test to a V51 on the actual GMAT. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with the SC section of the GMAT. 5 out of 5 stars

Outstanding Book

PPLWriter "Peter" @ 2009-07-21

I was targeting a top MBA school and knew that I would need a pretty decent GMAT score. Sentence correction was by far my weakest area so I picked up this book (Make sure you also pickup the Official Guide and the OG Verbal Review because this book references both books). The book helped me in two ways. First, it provided an overview of the major types of sentence correction questions you'll encounter on the GMAT. Second it helped formulate strategies to identify and then solve the SC questions. I really recommend this book for people struggling with the SC portion. It significantly helped me and allowed me to hit my target score.

A must have for anyone taking the GMAT

New Rails Guy @ 2009-07-09

The book is really solid and thorough. I went through several other books before breaking down and purchasing this one and I am glad that I did. Manhattan GMAT breaks down everything, from what you are most likely to see to what you may only have a 1% chance of seeing. They cover every possible angle of this aspect of the test. I would say that improving your sentence correction score is the easiest way to improve your verbal score. If you are on the fence about whether or not to purchase this, definitely make the right decision and order it at least a month before your test.

Great book with some flaws

Denis L. @ 2008-06-14

This is the greatest book explaining all underlying rules for GMAT Sentence Correction among the books I used to prepare for GMAT. It provides very in-depth but easy-to-understand explanations for almost all aspects of English tested on GMAT.
The only reason why I was slightly disappointed with this product was examples and problem sets. It looks like they were not proof-read and thus they are inconsistent with the grammar rules described in the corresponding chapter.
So my advice would be - buy this book, use it as your primary grammar guide, but don't be too much concerned with the problem sets and explanations on the correct answers.

Manhattan GMAT is the best prep material available!!!

M. Willey @ 2010-04-13

I didn't take a class, but I have alot of friends who have and have used the Kaplan book and practice tests in addition to the Manhattan. Manhattan prep material and tests are head and shoulders above Kaplan. My only wish is that I had started with the Manhattan series and not even worried about Kaplan. Kaplan may have the brand name, but the fact that Manhattan focuses only on the GMAT shines through. The material goes wayyy more in depth, and it really leverages the other best source of practice material you have, the Official Guide (it has a great feature called rephrasing that references the OG problems directly to give data sufficiency help. It almost makes so much sense that it seems obvious but ingenious at the same time. Why not use the actual old test problems provided by the GMAC as much as you can?).

I wasn't going to buy the whole series but was so impressed by the first book I used (Sentence Correction), that I bought a couple of the quantitative prep books. I was so impressed by those, that I ended up buying all the rest of them. I can not stress enough how much more focused and useful this material is than Kaplan. When used in conjunction with the Official Guide, you have everything you need to break 700.

The things these books provide make so much sense as the best way to prepare, that it makes you wonder why everyone else doesn't do it. My guess is that Manhattan benefits from a focused business model of limiting itself to the GMAT. If you're not looking to score that well and only need to practice some and get used to the questions, the Official Guide is enough. But the Manhattan series is also nice in that it allows you to pick and choose the certain topics you need extra help with. Also, by only buying one book, you get access to six practice tests that are very difficult and provide invaluable information in its readouts of your performance (much more detailed and useful than Kaplan's. Hate to keep hating on Kaplan, but it's the only thing I have to compare to. It's not horrible really, it just pales in comparison to Manhattan. I think of the Kaplan material like I think of McDonald's, very well-known but pretty junky. It'll fill you up, but you won't feel great afterward...)

I've never taken the time to review any items on Amazon.com before, but I have been so impressed with this product that I felt compelled to let others know about it.

Don't waste your money on a class, get the Manhattan series instead. You'll save over a thousand dollars and be better prepared as well!

Good luck!

The best SC book I used

Y. Engelhard @ 2009-10-09

I already used the Princeton review and some of the Kaplan's guides, but the MGAMT SC, is by far the best product.
The book emphasized all the trap holes and guide you through the different levels of questions from the verbal GMAT. One of the best advantages is that it used the 12ed official guide as the question bank...

sentence correction handbook

This is an excellent book for native and nonnative English speakers. Clear lessons and explanations are included with every single exercise. Help me a lot in preparing for GMAT.

In my opinion this book is uswfull for those who know the subject or learned it before and want to do a GMAT exam again.

bought this for Manhattan GMAT online CAT

this is, as far as I know, the cheapest way to get access to Manhattan GMAT's six CAT exams...which are considered to be the best out there.

Game Changer

Russell C. Waehler @ 2009-09-25

I credit this book as a primary reason I got into an MBA program - 1st attempt at GMAT I scored less than satisfactory on math, and well below my potential on verbal. Bought this book and took the online Manhattan test and got a decent score - this is the best SC book and along with the 5 online tests makes it a very good bargain. I scored in the 90th percentile on verbal with the help of this book.

Excellent!!!!

DS @ 2009-09-04

Brand New book.......really helpful to master this part of GMAT....Amazon's service is at its best as usual.

Good one

Kishy @ 2007-08-14

Finding it extremely helpful for my GMAT prep. Stresses on the grammar basics with good examples. The downside is you have to buy the GMAT official or Verbal book for exercises, manhattan standalone does not have many exercises for you to practise.

Excellent . Where are the tough questions though?

Mr. C. K. Phalak "CK @ 2007-02-07

Covers almost every type of grammatical mistake in sentences.

However , given that the GMAT throws complex questions (involving more than two error types) once you are in the 700+ range , More (and tough)Practice Questions are needed.
THE 6 ONLINE CATs are somewhat difficult.

Better then ALL others

W. Boaglio @ 2009-04-27

I have tried numerous other materials and NONE come close to how well this book is organized. The exercises are skill building and the tips were 'spot on' with the real test. I increased my score 100 in month with this book.

A great book

M. Sumadi @ 2009-04-24

This book is the best. It gives you a great explanation for the grammar basics in a nice flow. It was good for me in a way it broke down the info in a way I can relate to! If you are looking for something that gives you the infrastructure to master the GMAT sentence correction, then this is it! It does not have practice exams but I already knew that before making the purchase. If you want something with lots of questions and exams, then Kaplan GMAT book is the one for you. I received this book the day after I ordered it, even though it should be 4-9 business days! What a great service!!!

Very useful.

Prashanth Pillutla " @ 2009-01-02

This is the only book on SC that I have read so far - so, wont be able to compare it to any other book but from what I infer after going through all the GMAT forums online, this is the best book on the subject out there. It has very useful tips to spot the errors and to improve our thinking to align with the way GMAT expects us to.

On a side note, ever since I read this book, I started spotting mistakes in all the articles - pretty interesting to note how many grammatical mistakes are made in our daily colloquial speech !!!

Really helped me!

Harbi @ 2008-12-19

As a non-native speaker, this book helped me a lot. Each chapter focuses on really important concepts. I loved the fact that they relate to the Officail guide questions. For example, after you study any chapter they tell which questions from (the Official Guide For GMAT Review and the Verbal Review) are related to this chapter. This makes the Review to the questions very efficient. I very much recommend this book.

The Best SC Book For The GMAT

english_august @ 2007-12-15

This is the best book for sentence correction, specially if English is your second language. Provides a great overview of important concepts, a grammar exercise on each topic and then points to a bunch of relevant questions in the Official Guide and GMAT Verbal review.

If you don't want to be at a serious competitive disadvantage or if you are not already god at SC, my advice is that buy this book as early as you can in your GMAT preparation period.

the best book for GMAT Sentence Correction

I strongly recommend this book for everybody who wants get more than 700 in GMAT

It worked for me!

Paul @ 2009-04-18

I took the GMAT in November and did very well on the verbal section (in the 85 percentile). I credit a lot of this to the Manhattan verbal preparation, of which this book was my favorite. I worked the chapters a couple of weeks before the exam and felt very comfortable correcting sentences. Definitely worth a try if you feel like brushing up before the test!

a MUST buy!

K. Rico @ 2008-09-29

I took an expensive prep course and still fell short of needing better material to prepare for the GMAT. My tutor recommended this to me and it is bar none the holy grail for conquering sentence correction on the GMAT.

worth the money

Ryan @ 2008-08-25

Really good book. all the concepts clearly explained. I think its better to read this book once you have covered at least one other book like princeton, kaplan etc. (the gmat guides).

The Best Sentence Correction

Simply, it is the best GMAT Sentence Correction among those of the Princeton Review, Kaplan, Arco, Nova, and Veritas Prep. Just buy this SC and the GMAT official guide, then you are set.

Simply the BEST for SC Strategy

I've purchased similar guides from Kaplan and Princeton but Manhattan GMAT is simply the best. With this book my SC has improved tremendously. Their strategies are simple and easy to apply. It works. Highly recommend it.

Must have for Sentence Correction Success!

Chandana "cricket lo @ 2008-11-12

The bible for GMAT sentence correction just got bigger, better and more streamlined!

This is definitely a must have for anyone who wants to do well on their GMAT verbal. The book is literally twice as big as the first edition and includes a lot of nuances and mini rules/exceptions not covered in the previous editions.

As usual, the book also comes with access to the 6 MGMAT CAT exams as well.

Good for basics lacks practice questions

A. Jain @ 2008-09-16

It is good book to build basics, but does not have practice questions. You can read this book in one day. For the money, it is nothing compare to the Official Guide.

Worth the money

V. agarwal @ 2006-10-22

If you are serious about getting into top B school then 15$ is a trifle amount for this book. Although book itself does not have many excercises but the online material that comes with the book alone is worth more than 15$. This book has some tricks which I couldnt find in most other books and since Sentence correction was the only department where I wasnt scoring correctly over 95th%, I had to get this book.
With this book you can take 3 online CAT exams. To give you an idea I took the third exams 1 day before GMAT and got 760 in that. Guess what my GMAT score was? 760.
In the end if you are serious about getting top score you should get this book.

Very good for SC concepts Only. No practice questions

Kanishk Rastogi "Fre @ 2008-11-25

Sentence Correction is a very important part of the Verbal section of GMAT. It is not only used in the direct SC questions, but also in the incorrect answer choices of RC & CR. The SC Guide from Manhattan GMAT is very useful in understanding the concepts of grammar and how they are applied in GMAT. Best feature is that it takes you through a sequence of chapters, thus addressing all the concepts, with some examples at the end of each chapter. However, the examples are plain incorrect sentences and not the GMAT style questions with answer choices.

Good thing is that every page has a useful tip on the side and the format of the text and style makes it easier to grasp the important tips & tricks.

There are no practice questions in this book. At the end of each chapter there is a list of Question numbers from The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 11th Edition & its Verbal Supplement, which corresponds to the concepts taught in that chapter. There is also a big matrix in Appendix, which tabulates these questions to concepts. I didn't find it of much use, since in real exam, you don't have time to think that which chapter the question is from. Moreover, the actual exam questions use more than one concept.

In addition to the text, you get a code to go online to Manhattan GMAT website and get access to 6 full-length tests and one SC exercise. Some may find this useful. However, I found their questions to be a bit more difficult than those in OG.

In summary: very useful book. Recommended to buy along with the OG and its verbal supplement.

Sentence Correction GMAT Preparation Guide (Manhattan GMAT Preparation Guides) (Paperback)

This book is great for folks who are very serious about getting a good handle on the GMAT sentence correction questions. English grammer is a huge subject and this book does well in narrowing the focus on the type of questions asked in GMAT.

As observed from the GMATClub blogs, test takers who have scored 700+ have highly recommended this item. However, this book doesn't offer any practice questions on its own and directs you to the practice questions in OG 11 and official guide for GMAT verbat review.

Excellent!!!

This book is great! It concisely covers the main types of sentence completion questions and completely demystifies this tricky, often confusing portion of the GMAT. The book is easy to understand and provides lots of examples and practice questions. One caveat: a lot of the practice questions refer to the 11th edition of the Official Guide and the Verbal Official Guide. However, this book can definitely stand on its own. Another major plus: when you purchase any of the GMAT prep books and register the book on the GMAT Prep website, you get e-mails with useful articles and suggestions for studying. These articles were really helpful. In particular, an article on pacing was a lifesaver. I highly recommend this book.

DO NOT BUY

The most annoying of all in this book are the examples cited. This book claims to be edited, tested by people who scored 99 percentile on GMAT and still there is no originality! All the examples are cited off from the GMAT verbal workout or from GMAT review 11th edition. After each concept an exmaple is cited which we cannot attmpt as there are no choices available. The book goes on and on as to how to correct the sentences which is not the case in GMAT. We are not taking the test to correct it, we taking the test to pick the best of the options and to score it. In short, though this book is strong in concepts, I would not spend $16, rather would prefer to buy Kaplan Test book or GMAT Verbal workout, etc. Anyways you will endup buying books from GMAC for sure...

An excellent choice for GMAT prep...

I found the Manhattan GMAT prep series overall to be extremely helpful in my studies (I have all of the books except for Reading Comp and Critical Reasoning). Sentence correction has definitely been a weak point for me and I feel like this book really helped me along. The book is well organized with breakdowns of critical concepts and mini-quizzes at the end of each chapter. I found that the book gave plenty of examples when presenting more challenging material, making it a lot easier to pick up on difficult concepts. This book also provides a breakdown of questions from the Official GMAT books for each topic, which is helpful for targeting areas that need improvement. My only complaint is that I would have liked for the questions in the book to have been a little bit more challenging.

Used in conjunction with the Official GMAT books, the Manhattan GMAT prep books can be an extremely useful tool in preparing for the GMAT. I highly recommend them for anyone getting ready to take the test.

best in market for GMAT SC

Good book for GMAT sentence correction preparation

Punit Bansal @ 2006-08-13

Manhattan GMAT sentence correction is concise, to the point and self sufficient for preparation of GMAT sentence correction section. The seemingly thin book contains enough information required for preparation .

However, it could have contained some practise examples and review exercises to further build up the confidence.

I enjoyed going through and would refer it to anyone preparing.
