I bought Rocco's Now Eat This book last year. The recipes were so amazing that I started losing 3 pounds a week! The reason I could stay on this diet was because with Rocco's recipes, I felt like I was still eating my favorite foods - burgers, mac and cheese, fried chicken, brownies etc. I love that Rocco came out with Now Eat This Diet because it really helps me put together daily meal plans. No more guess work, I just simply combine what recipes I like best for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This book also has EVEN MORE recipes of my favorite comfort foods. There are a ton of photos in the book which come in handy when I am unsure whether I am making the dishes properly. The layout of the book is also good and very easy to follow. I'd say, overall, this book is even better than the last one.
This is a cookbook you can actually read and learn a lot about diet and nutrition. That is why it is technically a "diet book" that happens to have awesome recipes in it. The pictures in the book are great and it really can change the way you think about cooking and eating. I may lose 10lbs in 6 weeks, but over time I think the effect of books like these could be much much more.
Oh, and this book has no artificial sweeteners, which is great because I am NOT a fan of them.

This Is the Diet I have been Waiting For All My Life!
Even more easy to make healthy and delicious foods and a diet program spelled out by menu, recipe and shopping lists. Couldn't have been made any more fool proof. There is a photo for every recipe! I especially love the-too busy to cook-options and the-how to eat healthy when you eat out-sections. Another brilliant book by Rocco.
Recipes and information galore for healthy eating
Received my copy yesterday and dived right in to make the "No-Boil Mushroom Lasagna." Not only was it quick to make, I was surprised to see that a single serving was a yummy 388 calories versus who knows how scary the actual caloric number is. Was able to thumb through the actual text of the book and I must say that I'm looking forward to cooking these meals. I think it's important to note that you shouldn't get fooled by the word "diet" in the title - if anything, this book is all about teaching you how to eat/cook healthier for your well-being.
I received Rocco's new cookbook in the mail this past week. This is not only a cookbook. Chapters 1-8 are written text and very informative. He provides so much information about health, weight loss, food, and exercise that I never knew about before. Rocco explains how to watch your calories, learn to cook, and what bad foods to avoid. He talks extensively about the process of losing weight. The best thing about this book is that it made me feel HOPEFUL. I'm trying to lose weight, but I never stuck to one plan. In other diet books, they just give you recipes and that's it. Rocco explains everything in detail and really takes the time to make us understand how it works. Everything is color coded and he even provides shopping lists! After chapter 8 is when we start seeing the recipes. Every recipe has a picture which is nice. The ingredients in the recipes are very easy to find. I'm glad he didn't use any artificial sweeteners in this book. I have already made these recipes in the book:

Awesome Healthy Dieting and Eating Cookbook!
I am so happy I purchased this book. I've been really looking for a plan to get healthy not just by going to the gym every day, but eating better and Now Eat This Diet offers 2 plans, lots of good health tips, and good recipes. I've only tried a few so far, but so far they have all been delicious and I dont feel as guilty eating some of my favorite foods. The book also works off a color-coded calorie counting system which is cool. I can really follow it and set my meals for the day. Thanksss Rocco! :)
I bought Rocco's last book, "Now Eat This", because I was intrigued by the idea of great fried chicken that wouldn't destroy my arteries. It's been a year now, and my two sons give me a hard time if I let a week go by without cooking the flash-fried chicken dish from "Now Eat This". I figured I would pick up Rocco's new book to see if I could convince my sons to try something other than fried chicken. Unfortunately, they love the flash-fried chicken carnitas dish from the new book so much that my plan may fail! But I did discover something unexpected in this book's excellent text on diet. Although I don't have an issue with weight or junk food, reading the text of this book has motivated me to try the diet plan to improve my overall health so I can live to see my sons cook for their children. Well done!
I "heart" Rocco and his healthy way of cooking!
I bought Rocco's Now Eat This last year and loved it! Then, I saw Rocco live in New York at last October's Food and Wine Festival and he is such a great guy!! I used to watch Rocco on Melting Pot years ago and was familiar with his high standards on flavor but I never thought he could do it with "diet" food!!

I love this man - and no, not just because he's adorable!! His healthy recipes and new take on comfort foods have gotten me & my fiancee so excited that we tell everyone about him and have bought his first book for quite a few of our friends. We've never cooked so many recipes from one book until his last book came out - every one was amazing so we just kept going and got pretty extensively through the book!
We've just purchased loads of groceries to try out the new book's amazing-looking recipes. And I already love the health facts and diet plans. As for the written part, this book has loads of interesting facts and tips and he managed to step it up in terms of recipe choices.

I'm actually disappointed, and am preparing to ship back.
LOVE Rocco, but I wish that instead of highlighting how many "fat" grams there are per recipe, he'd focus on how many "sugar" grams there are. He seems to think that consuming dietary fat makes us fat, whereas it's our SUGAR consumption (from refined carbs) that makes us fat. Usually if a product is labeled, "low fat" or "no fat", they replace it with additives (many cases, sugar) to make it taste good. I don't agree with his idea of using all of these low fat substitutes..it's not necessary. It's "trans" fat we need to avoid, and that's primarily in "processed" foods. No need to eliminate EGGS either...they're actually very GOOD for us, rather than processed liquid eggs which God knows what's in them besides egg whites! Dietary cholesterol does not raise serum cholesterol levels....SUGARS do. I agree with using Stevia as a sugar substitute and agave in moderation(it still spikes insulin levels!) Years ago I lost weight on the Sugar Busters diet....lost the book, but just reordered it..it seemed to be the only diet book that "made sense". There are very easy recipes, simple foods, nothing fancy, and the best thing about it is that there are NO COUNTING CALORIES. No counting of ANYthing! I did lose 25 lbs on it in three months...not by cutting out dietary fats,but by cutting out refined carbs. And I had to drink my OJ a half hour before breakfast..that was the most difficult aspect to get used to, but it worked.

I thought this book was absolutely fabulous! I was a bit skeptical at first with some of the suggestions he gave for substitutes but they really do work! And I also love the fact that it not only gives you recipes but teaches you how to come up with your own healthy recipe ideas and meal plan!

The book gives readers a limited calorie diet that isn't ridiculously low in calories, meals with wholesome ingredients, simple recipes that don't require a chef's skills to set on the table, and exercise. Sounds like a solid approach to weight loss to me.
The BEST Food, The BEST Advice!!!
I purchased Rocco's book just over a week ago and have now made nearly a dozen recipes ranging from the breakfast smoothies, to the Tuna and Green Pea Casserole, to the Beef and Brussels Sprouts, to the double chocolate chip cookies. I could go on and on but the point is that this book has awesome recipes that, in actuality, take a lot of will power to only consume the recommended amounts per serving. Everything is soooooo good and so easy to prepare. One of the best things that I really like about the book (other than the great recipes, of course) is the fact that nearly every item on here can be bought at your local grocery store. I believe there were only a handful of items that I took the liberty of purchasing at my local Health Foods Store. So, pricing is basically about the amount you'd pay for a weeks grocery list and not expensive at all. I created two whole dinner with just $34.00!!!!
Get the book. I've had a number of diet books, cook books, and exercise books over the years and this is all hands down - THE BEST!

Chef Rocco has done it again!!! I was really pleased with all the recipes I made from his first book, NOW EAT THIS. Now, with the detail of Now Eat This Diet, he has provided alot of useful and detailed information. And, I like the personal touch whereby he reminds us that even Chefs need to watch their caloric intake and stay healthy. I have many cookbooks in my home, but they are all on my shelf in the hallway. Both of Chef Rocco's books remain in my kitchen as I use them on a weekly basis!
I returned this book "ROCCO NOW EAT THIS DIET" because it has mostly DIET ingredients~such as 'sugar-free' ~~'non-fat'~~'reduced-fat'~~'egg substitute'~~'calorie-free'~'low-fat cheese' etc. in every recipe.
And since I cannot use the 'sugar substitutes'in diet foods and diet sodas and diet ice cream etc.~~ because they give me diarrhea, I am sorry to say that this book was useless for me.
The book that DOES work for me is "COOK THIS NOT THAT" by David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding.
They have several books and I have purchased three of them: (from Amazon.com)
1. The No-Diet Weight Loss Solution
2. Kitchen Survival Guide
3. Easy & Awesome 350-Calorie Meals
Love all three of these... if you only purchase one of these...I found I use the "Easy & Awesome 350-Calorie Meals" book every day.
So, if you want to enjoy delicious food while losing weight quickly, safely, and effectively~~this is the book for you...all real food...real meat, real cheese, real butter, great produce and perfect portions.
These books are the right size (6.50" X 6.50") and very easy to read and full of colored pictures.

This book was advertised on television as a great NEW DIET COOKBOOK. It is just your average cook book with average recipes. Almost half of the book is dedicated to lifestyle change and how to use the book for meals and cooking. Not what I had hoped for.
After each recipe I had to calculate the calories myself to believe it. Everything tastes great.My husband and I say to each other after each meal, "This is diet?"
You can certainly make his changes to your old favorites and stick to it for life. We also have lots of new favorites after reading this book too.

I decided to buy Rocco's new book because I loved the book he put out last year, Now Eat This. This book is a great follow up to that one. I cooked from Now Eat This often and managed to lose 20 pounds in 4 months. I was very pleased. I was able to stick to the diet because Rocco's food really tasted like comfort food. This book, Now Eat This Diet is even better than the last because he has a lot of information is it. I now understand what my bad eating habits were that were making me gain weight. I love the shopping lists in this book. I have only made 2 recipes from this book but both were very good. Mine actually also turned out like the photos which made me very happy. I'm almost certain I will lose even more weight with this book! Thanks Rocco!!
Dispirito has some great ideas, if you are a trained chef with lots of time and tons of money. Ingredients are very expensive. Also, he makes it very difficult to determine what a serving size really is. Like all other diets it comes down to calories and common sense.
I bought Now Eat This about a month ago, so I didnt have to wait long for this book!!! These recipes are amazing. My husband is a picky eater and he has liked every recipe I have tried. I am looking foward to the weight dropping off while eating food that isnt missing flavor from both cookbooks! My favorite recipe so far is the Blueberry Cheesecake Oatmeal.
Easy to follow, Calorie counts are color coded which is very nice, and the beginning of the book has very useful information about health and losing weight. Every recipe has a picture to go with it and occasional pictures of Rocco too which is REALLY nice!

I love this book and I've only had it for 3 days - already I've made muffins and mac & cheese, and tonight I made pork tenderloin with butternut squash and tarragon gravy. I'm a fairly good cook, but I find these meals are often fussy and take a while, and as a busy working woman I don't have time for that. Tonight's meal took me only 30 mins and was succulent and delicious. Throw nutritious in there, and you have a winner!
I do not like this book. The food in the pictures look so good, but the amount of ingredients you need to make one dish is insane. Especially for the desserts. I have bought so many new ingredients that I will never use again, and I still don't have all of the ingredients to make the dish I bought the first ingredients for. Too complicated for anyone thinking his recipes will be fast and simple. thanks,
I just had my third child-another boy-three months ago and really wanted tolose weight for the summer. Let me start by mentioning a couple of things: I went to culinary school, so can prepare food a lot quicker than your average Joe; I'm athletic, so was able to exercise at a pretty high level. Oh, also, I'm breastfeeding which burns extra calories. That being said, I lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks! I was hungry, but come on, it's a diet! The substitutions in the recipes are pretty clever, as are the cooking methods. I enjoy cooking for my family, I just had to increase the portion sizes so my husband and 13 year old weren't starved. Everyone really liked the food, and the fact that suddenly there were muffins and cookies in the house.
The only thing I would question is that some of the cooking times seem a little off.

I would have gave it four stars because I wished for more recipes... I have already made some of the recipes in here before I read his, I went thru the book looking at the recipes and he lists everything I do have in my house, so some people need to make adjustments if you want to alter your recipes.
Some reviews say sodium is high. Well to be honest you would be surprised on you own dishes how high sodium is, and you can make adjustments to that, for example instead of using canned white beans, make your own white beans from scratch which of coarse takes 24 hour process, but if you want to make everything with lower sodium, everyone should know you need to make from scratch then.
Also I didnt feel the portions was "to little" like some posts here say. I guess I have always been good with my portions so I think the portions are perfect.
As far as the one pizza comment there was one pizza recipe that you could have 1 1/2 to be under 300 cals now that is not bad. There are other pizza recipes where you can have 2 pieces. Eat a salad with it or have it as a snack. I think some people are WORST than a child complaining that he does not want to eat his veggies!

tis book of roccos is really great and it works and i feel full all the time and the weight loss results are great i lost 8 lbs in 10 days

This is a must have for someone or an entire family looking to just plain and simply eat healthier meals. After having a baby less than 3 months ago it was time for me to shed the baby weight and my first step was to buy better foods and cook better healthier meals. Rocco's book did the trick for sure. My Fiancée and I have really enjoyed trying the recipes, as of now we have tried about 10 or so. This is a great deal for the price you get so many good tips on eating well and the book is written beautifully. If had to have one dislike it would be that getting started is kind of expensive with all the ingredients however thats the case when buying healthier ingredients at any time. It's just easier/cheaper to eat junk, I'm just not willing to pay the hefty price in the end for doing so. Instead I'll pay the $ now to be healthy!
Easy, Healthy Recipes that taste Great
I'm a fan of all of Rocco's cookbooks. His recent cookbooks are full of recipes that don't require a lot of ingredients or time but taste great and far more complex and full of flavor than you would expect. Rocco's latest cookbook succeeds brilliantly at making classic food, healthier, with lower calories - Rocco has made eating healthy easy and fun. I happily cook at least 1 or 2 recipes from this book a week. I hope Rocco continues to develop more books in the similar vein - quicky, easy, flavorful recipes that are healthy - its the best of both worlds.
I love the recipes in this book! i also appreciate the fact that Rocco made life so much easier for anyone following Weight Watchers. After a while you run out of ideas of what to cook but not with this book. He did all the work to re-invent recipes that I love but was not sure how to make healthier and keep that great taste. Rocco, thank you!!!!
I was very impressed with this book. It is so much more than recipes. There are helpful suggestions, food comparisons, and I learned a lot about sugar and sugar substitutes. Pictures are very helpful and make me want to try that item. Very easy to use. He did an excellent job for someone like me who was looking for a healthy cookbook, and I got so much more.
Excellent resource and filled with Dispirito's unique philosophy. Recipes make sense and ones I've tried are excellent. All 3 of his cookbooks are great - this one and Now Eat This have useful narratives.

This is the best Diet book and one of the eaiser ones to follow. Beleive me I have tried many others. Weight loss showed in no time.Plan on keeping this for a long time and following it.
I read through this cookbook and was really inspired to try some of the recipes. If you've never been on a healthy diet it is a great place to start. Just by changeing some of the compoments you cook with regularly can make a difference. The photography is beautiful and makes your mouth water. His short cuts are great and make it possible to eat healthy meals and snacks without spending all of your day gathering nuts and berries.

Hello! I just saw Rocco with this new book on Rachel Ray and have got to have it. I do have a question for those of you with both books.
Does the new book contain the same recipes as the first book or do I really need both.

Ok so I am one of those that will try any diet, but rarely sticks with it because you have to cut out something and it's usually my favorite things. Such as chocolate, sugar, carbs, etc. Well with this book, it's more than just a diet, it's a change in how you prepare things. You don't have to deprive yourself, just learn how to make it differently, healthier and keep it portion controlled. So far I love everything I have tried, though being in a smaller area finding some of the ingredients was a bit difficult (whole wheat pastry flour, espresso powder) but totally worth the research. I even surprised hubby with some of the recipes and he's a bit skeptic on any type of change to his food. Two thumbs up from this family and this reviewer, I will be reviewing it on my blog at the end of next week once I have successfully changed my cooking for a week. Love It! Buy it now!
Not for the extreme health conscious
I saw Rocco promoting his book on the doctor show and I was interested in having new cooking ideas and recipes. I had purchased another book a while ago called Cook This Not That and thought it was the same author, but it is not. When I started reviewing the recipes in Rocco's book I noticed he uses processed foods and sugars in almost all of his recipes. I make a special effort to remove processed foods and this recipe book does not help. The Doctor show is always talking about how bad processed foods are and they allow Rocco to promote his book on their show. Such a disappointment.
We love this book with everyday foods made in a low fat way. These are our favorites like Mac and Cheese and cheeseburgers. Fried Chicken....are you serious? This is one diet I will be able to stick with!
Now Eat This! Diet cookbook is the absolute best cookbook I've ever purchased. I can throw all my other cookbooks away. I love how the recipes are all color coded by calorie content. This book makes eating properly a "no brainer," and best of all, the recipes are very filling. The ingredients that Rocco uses help fill you up without adding an extraordinary amount of calories. The recipes are easy to follow, and the pictures let you know exactly what you are going to end up with.

This book has alot of great nutrition and diet information, as a nurse this is a book I can tell my clients about that are struggling with weight issues, it has alot of good recipes that you can easily make. Even if you are not looking to lose weight you can use these to maintain good eating habits, and stay away from the bad stuff. I am always impressed by Rocco he has done another great job.

Excellent book, nutrition facts, and very easy to do recipes. Also things you either have in your pantry already or are very easy to find in your supermarkets.

Great healthy alternatives to cook for my picky southern fiance
I have bought both of Rocco's cook books, and they are wonderful! It has been a struggle to cook healthy meals for two when my fiancé will only eat southern comfort food. There are plenty if recipes in both books to provide some healthier alternatives to his favorite dishes (he loves mashed potatoes, macaroni and chicken fingers). I would highly recommend these books. I can't keep the two books straight in my head, so I don't know which recipes are from this one for sure, but I just made the rocky road oatmeal the other morning and it was quick and easy and tasted sinfully yummy. My fiancé and I also both LOVE the loaded potatoe skins. Buy both books and you won't be disappointed. Yay Rocco!!!!!!!!!!!! It's kid friendly, too. :) and thanks Nate Berkus for the introduction to his books on your show.
Love this recipe book. Great low calorie recipes that are easy to make. I went through the entire book, chose recipes I thought we would enjoy, made a shopping list, tried them out and now I have a weekely menu plan of all things we love to eat that will allow us to lose weight and feel better. Thank you Rocco!!
