Editorial Reviews
When Noah McDermott, owner of McDermott Construction, walks out into the bright morning sunshine, the last thing he expects is to get run over by a careless woman in a yellow Mercedes. His anger quickly fades into curiosity when the driver turns out to have endless legs and bottomless brown eyes.
Avery Price, daughter of a publishing millionaire, should have followed her instinct and kept driving instead of stopping at a dot on the map. But Trouble, Wyoming is growing on her and she needs a job – fast.
Lately, Noah’s been going through office managers like people go through sticks of gum. He needs someone with a tough backbone to get his office organized. However, he did not want that someone to be the same woman who left her bumper imprint on his backside. As the two of them work together day after day, the sparks fly. Surely they can be professional and keep from acting on their attraction toward one another. As they spend more time together, Noah starts to get the feeling Avery isn’t who she says she is. Is she just a girl looking for a change or is there more going on than she’s telling him?
Avery quickly adapts to her new life in the picturesque town of Trouble. She has a job for the first time in her life and a boss who turns her on more than her ex-fiancé ever did. But did she make the right choice by leaving home or is she falling deeper into trouble?

I absolutely loved the characters. Avery has been put in a box her entire life and all she wants to do is be free and independent. She refuses to give up which I love. Noah has stood his ground with his dad but he is extremely stubborn. Avery and Noah have such chemistry but things just keep getting in the way. They are both complex, well-rounded characters. Noah is somewhat of an alpha male but not too dominant. He is very charming when he wants to be. It's not really predictable except for what you would expect to happen in certain situations. I loved the two of them together and just wanted more. The story line flowed really well. The plot was great and there were twists and turns thrown in throughout the story. The sex is only somewhat explicit. There are details but not too much and there is not very much of it. Avery and Noah already have feelings for each other and they are quite deep by that point. The dialogue was great and there are some funny parts. I didn't want to stop reading the story once I started. It drew me in for sure. I loved the interaction between the different characters the entire time and would love to see more from them. - 4 Hearts, Lexee
I am always looking for new authors and I'm glad I found this one! I won't get into details about Avery and Noah, other than they're perfect for each other! I am really looking forward to more stories from Trouble Wyoming!! From the excerpt in my Kindle, Chase's story will be NEXT!!
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were fun, sexy, and likable. The story was believable and did not fall into the typical romance traps. I look forward to reading more from this author. I would love to read stories about Chase and RJ.
The "One for the Girls" review was spot on, but there were several places where the dialog was awkward, there were also a number of grammatical errors and typos. At one point, one of the characters was driving what I believe was supposed to be a Maserati but was mistakenly called a "Macerate". In spite of it all, I enjoyed the story and will probably look for the next book in the series to be published. It was certainly worth $0.99.
this was a great book with good charactor development. the story was really cute and at times funny.. this authors writting style is really easy to read and draws you in..
can't wait to buy her next book

I just finished reading Looking For Trouble and I must say, I enjoyed it!
Ms. Kern took be out of my everyday life and brought me into a town that is worlds away from where I live. Her character development of the McDermott brothers is great. The introduction of the hero, Noah McDermott, as he leaves a one night stand and literally runs into the heroine, Avery Price had me laughing so hard it riveted me to the book.
Watching the characters evolve and grow in their relationship as well as how they dealt with their own personal issues involving family is something that we all can relate to in some form.
When the book ended, I was satisfied that all issues the characters faced individually and together were resolved and that the characters grew to become better people in the end.
The book was also written in a way that leads me to believe there is a possibility of more stories coming out of Trouble, Wyoming and I look forward to reading more!
Ms. Kern, I'd love to read more about Teeny and Landon, RJ and Rebecca and What is up with Chase??? Will Brody ever find happiness again???
I give 5 stars to Ms. Kern and look forward to reading more of her works!

Looking For Trouble was a great find at a great price. Many of the 99 cent books lack depth and the stories are just too short. You end up wondering where the rest of the story is or sad because a character had such potential if only given a little bit more! You won't find that here.
This is a good modern romance from a new author. The characters were well developed and the story line had a few twists that kept you turning the page (or hitting the page forward button). This author may not be a "Rachel Gibson" yet but she is definitely headed in this direction. This book was a good start.

Although I enjoyed the book - it was a quick read and lighter fare than I usually read - I must say I was fairly annoyed with all of the spelling errors, missed words or grammatical errors. I understand that Kindle releases are a great way for new authors to make a name for themselves; however, it is especially important for new authors to pay attention to the details. This book certainly would have benefitted from another review by an editor of the human kind!
Even though this is a new author, I was pleasantly surprised with what I read. The story was well put together and the characters were interesting. I especially liked the secondary characters of Noah's family and how the author clearly sets the story up as a series. Yes, there were a few errors. But in my opinion, they are minor don't take away from the story being an enjoyable read. If you're looking for an feel-good romance, give this one a try.
I was fortunate to read an advance copy of Looking for Trouble. Ms. Kern did a great job creating the story of a wealthy city girl who turns her back on a life of privilege to strike out on her own in a small town.
At first I wasn't sure I would like Avery, but she quickly grew on me. I liked sexy Noah right away, and the chemistry between them begins on the opening pages.
Ms. Kern's quirky and interesting secondary characters lend additional drama to the story that help to make Looking for Trouble an emotionally satisfying read.
Get the book! It's great!

This was not a good book. I am all for chick lit and enjoy it tremendously but I do get tired of these heroines who barely ever had a sexual experience before meeting THE guy. Let's get with the times people! You don't need to be a quasi-virgin to experience a beautiful love story. Also, throughout the whole book, Avery is keeping the 'secret' of her wealth and infidelity of her ex-fiance from Noah...WHY??? She did nothing wrong! This plot made absolutely no sense and the whole book lacked a depth of character and subsance.
I do not recommend this book and would not want to read anything else by this author.

I enjoyed reading this book. I especially loved the hero, Noah, and his brothers. (Looking forward to reading Chase's story this summer.)
Looking for Trouble was a quick and easy read for the most part, but there were a few places were it read a bit slow. I'm thinking mostly of the love scene. Too me it was a bit long. I kept clicking to the next page, hoping it was the last one. (But I finished reading it.) And it also seemed to me heroine's ex gave up too easily. (I was waiting for him to cause more problems for her.)
Other than those few things, I would recommend this book.

Thankfully, this was a 99 cent Kindle purchase; otherwise, I doubt I would have ever picked this book. The reviews lured me in thinking it would be a lighthearted, quick read. However, I was more confused and frustrated by the author's often contradictory portrayal of the main characters. She often refers to the heroine as spitfire, but I didn't see any of that spark or wit in Avery. This is a pretty predicable story lacking any of the intensity of good character development or inventive plot lines. Sorry, but I was disappointed, even for a 99 cent buy.
Looking for Trouble was my first Erin Kern book, but won't be my last. This was a very cute story. I loved it from beginning to end. If I had one complaint, it would be that sometimes the author tended to be really descriptive in parts of the story. I also, really didn't like the hero, Noah, being a smoker, but I suppose it made him more "human" to have at least one flaw. There was everything you look for in a contemporary romance in this story, passion and chemistry along with family drama and family love. A good read and one I would recommend.
Looking for Trouble - great story and love story
I just read "Looking for Trouble" and loved it.. The characters and story were masterfully developed throughout the book. Suspense lingering in expectation of your next page. Loved it.
I am very confused right now.
After reading glowing reviews I purchased this e book with some confidence. I am very disappointed with what I read. The book was so poor I couldn't get more than a fifth of the way through. I read avidly and this is a very rare thing for me.
The book is littered with errors, giving the impression that the only editing that occurred was by spell check. On more than one instance the author misused a word and its meaning. In the portion that I read there were already two plot errors and the writing was disjointed.
Unfortunately the technical aspect of the book was not the only problem I had. I found the two main characters in the book obnoxious. The female lead was immature and self centred; the male lead, unsympathetic and unpleasant. There is also a particularly horrible description of a woman being fired by him, leaving an unfavourable impression of the author herself.
The book was very cheap and I ,therefore, assume this is a new author. In my opinion the book wasn't ready and would not have made it to hard copy.
In summary, I read roughly 100 books per year and this has to be one of my least favourite. Although it is cheap it is not worth the money.

Lots of potential. Good story and writing that kept my attention. The gratuitous and cheesy references to perky breasts and round, hard butts, however, is unecessary. It always seemed to take me out of the moment and probably was thrown in as an afterthought by some over zealous marketing editor. Keep on writing. I'm interested in Rebecca's story and all of the family members.
After reading the other reviews I was drawn to the one outlier who had problems with this book. So I downloaded the "sample" from Amazon and started reading. Oh my - I'm really not sure what the other people were reading because I couldn't even get through the sample. At first I thought maybe the writing style was just a joke, as if the story started in someone's daydream and I kept waiting for something to change. But then it went on and on. Then I looked at who the publisher was (none) and realized Erin's just a new writer trying to get her book noticed. I applaud her for that, but this book isn't ready. If you are still debating whether you wish to purchase it or not, I highly recommend downloading the sample first (free) and make your own informed decision that way.
This book was really fun. I was able to relate to the main character, and I think that's really important for the reader as well as a big factor in enjoying a book. I liked the complexities of all the other characters and how they were introduced into the story. I also liked how the personalities and conversations were realistic as supposed to somewhat lame or korny like in other romance novels. I'd like to read other work by this author!
Unique, Fun, Spunky and Smooth Reading...I LOVE THIS BOOK!
First off, I should say that I bought this book back when it was first released and there were zero reviews. I was so pleasantly surprised by the writing style and absolutely love the use of multiple characters. I read this book cover to cover (kindle style) and enjoyed it so much that I tried to find more by this author. I was able to find a blog that she writes([..] - very good by the way) and through that, I was able to find out that while this was her first published book, she is releasing the second in the series very soon. YEAH!!!! Anyways, I recommend this book to anyone. I especially love the way the two main characters meet. I look forward to her future writings...
Does anyone know if Amazon has an alert that can notify me when an author I like releases a new title on my Kindle?

The main protagonist, Avery, is a very strong, independant woman and is well-rounded as a character. The story follows her break-up with her ex, the 'strained' relationship with her parents and her search for something more.
In places, Looking for trouble is amusing, sad and true to life. It was easy to read and easy to fall in with the characters and their everyday trials and tribulations.
Some of the descriptive writing is very good and I found myself smiling in more than a few places.
This books is definintely one for the girls, I am sure it will be a big hit in its genre! It is heart-warming, romantic, a little racy and funny. Every thing a girl could want from this kind of book.
I wish Erin every success with it.
